The destination Australia fund is a scholarship program set up by the Australian government to assist both domestic and international students in studying completely tuition free in some of the most prestigious universities in Australia.
To encourage both local and international students to pursue postsecondary education in regional Australia, the Australian government has established the Destination Australia Scholarships program. Eligible providers may now submit applications for the 2022 and 2023 entry periods.

Destination Australia Scholarship Eligibility
Students must fulfill the following requirements throughout the period of their Destination Australia scholarship in order to be eligible for this scholarships:
- Start a new full-time program in the Fall of 2023 with a recognized institution.
- The course can take anywhere from one to four years to complete, depending on whatever level on the Australian Qualifications Framework it falls under.
- You must have a local address before starting your studies and throughout your time there (according to the Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Structure).
For an international student:
- Keep your student visa current for the full length of your scholarship.
- Take advantage of a CRICOS-approved curriculum and enroll full-time.

How To Apply For Destination Australia Scholarship
The Destination Australia Scholarship Program does not have a unified application process. The 35 participating educational institutions can decide how to allocate the scholarship funds they receive from applicants.
Eligible candidates will be considered for the scholarship at a number of regional educational providers, including University of Melbourne. However, certain universities, such as Curtin University, have a more involved application process for students applying through Destination Australia. This is a detailed breakdown of how to apply to one of these schools:
- Step I: Submit your application for any eligible course of study.
- Step II: To apply for the Destination Australia Scholarship, please submit a one-page essay answering the following question: “How would the Destination Australia Scholarship help you achieve your career goals and help make tomorrow better?”
- Step III: Scholarship applications and personal statements will be reviewed by an evaluation committee.
- Step IV: Successful applicants will be notified by the university. Any applicants who were not selected will also be informed.
- Step V: Students who have been offered a Destination Australia Scholarship must confirm their acceptance of the award within the allotted time frame and by a predetermined means of confirmation, such as email.

Destination Australia Selection Process
Students who have been accepted into a full-time degree program at an Australian university and who maintain permanent residency in the state or territory where that university is located are prioritized for the Destination Australia Scholarship.
Students accepted to Edith Cowan University, for example, are expected to live in the Burbury area for the duration of their studies. Students are selected for further consideration based on the following criteria in addition to the satisfaction of university-specific terms and conditions:

In addition, interviews may be required as part of the admissions process at some schools; for example, James Cook University does so. Members of the committee will evaluate each student’s application independently and make a recommendation based on their findings.
