International students receive a number of benefits in addition to tuition coverage, including an annual living allowance of $33,000 (tax-free at the rate that would be in place in 2023), foreign medical insurance, and a one-time establishment grant of up to $1,485.

The scholarship can be used toward the completion of a Master of Science in Research degree for a maximum of two years or a Doctor of Philosophy in Research for a maximum of three years.

Flinders University Scholarship Eligibility

  •  Hold citizenship of a country other than Australia or New Zealand, and not be a permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand.
  • Are new to Australia and planning to enroll in a higher degree by research program full-time in the award year. Students who began their higher degree by research in the previous year but were unable to apply for a FIPRS in that year due to the timing of their application for admission and subsequent enrolment may be considered, as may students who began a higher degree by research but dropped out within the first six months of their program’s start.
  • make preparations to enroll in a program that focuses on research. These are the subfields in which the University excels, on which it has decided to concentrate its research efforts, and in which it has been successful in attracting assistance from outside sources.
  • In addition to fulfilling all of the other prerequisites for admission to the HDR program, candidates are expected to demonstrate an adequate level of English language proficiency as outlined in the English Language Proficiency Requirements for HDR Candidature.
