USYDIS Scholarship Value

With the option of a one-semester extension for PhD students, the University of Sydney International Scholarships (USydIS) will pay for living expenses and tuition for up to three years.

A $40,000 scholarship (or, more specifically, $37,207), payable over the course of a year in two equal payments.




$20,000 in scholarship money is due over the course of a year in two equal payments.

$10,000 in scholarship money is available for one semester.

$5,000 in scholarship money is available for one semester.

Eligibility Criteria (USYDIS)

To be considered for this scholarship you must adhere to the following instructions as stipulated by the the hosting university and award partners (University of Sydney, Australia);

  • Be an international student starting or newly enrolled.
  • Possess a stellar academic record and strong research potential.
  • Be enrolled in a PhD or master’s by research program at the University of Sydney, or have an unconditional offer of admission.
  • Before beginning the RTP Fee Scholarship, you could not have been a recipient of an Australia Award scholarship during the previous two years.
  • Unless the prior scholarship was for a Master by Research degree that you have already completed and are currently applying for a doctorate research degree, you cannot have previously earned an RTP Fee Scholarship.
  • Not earning a scholarship under any other scholarship program to which the Australian Government makes a significant financial commitment and which includes course tuition as a component.
  • Transcripts from any prior postsecondary education, including any translations into English in the event that the transcript is not in English. Including the page that details the grading system for your transcripts as well.

USYDIS Scholarship Requirements

While filling out the entrance application for your postgraduate research degree, commencing students should check the box to be considered for research scholarships.

 No additional application is necessary. Deadlines can be found at this page, and applications are accepted all year long. International students must submit their applications by September 15, 2023, for research periods 1 and 2, 2024.
